Horse of the Year Show

I’m sorry my blog hasn’t been updated recently but as you can see from the photographs I have been having a very exciting time. I went down to the Horse of the Year Show with my friend Terry – he left me in the Hilton Hotel car park and has gone to be a driving pony- I spent 5 days in a stable inside the NEC and at night time in another stable with some very smart show jumpers – in between I went for walks and met all sorts of people and ponies- not much grass anywhere but I had lovely horsehage I don’t normally get that.
Now I am back at the Exmoor pony centre and you will be able to come and ride me there next year.
My friend Ganymede will be sending his information into the blog for a while.
Ganymede was bought at Brendon sales last year he was a bit pathetic looking and very small (he won’t say he’s pathetic looking) anyway he’s not anymore.

Well, guess what?

I have a Mummy after all! I knew it all along. Her name is Holly and now I have found out who she is it means I am a fully registered Exmoor pony!

At the moment I am away staying on a farm being backed. I have a saddle on now and it won't be too long before I am being ridden. The only strange thing about being here, other than wearing a saddle, is that none of my Exmoor fiends are with me any more. Luckily though, I have made a good friend in a nice Dales pony so I have someone to talk to.

I thought you might like to know about some of my other friends all doing what Exmoors like doing best- eating with lots of other Exmoors- none of the Exmoors that belong to the Moorland Mousie Trust are on their own- we are social animals and like being together in a herd.

Lance and some of his girls- he is really called Shandyman II- are all out grazing on a reclaimed open cast site in County Durham which is lovely and covered in wildflowers and grasses.

He has got one foal in his herd so far this year, a little colt. He also has a lovely filly foal called Marigold who is living in the wood across the road from me with her Mum, Rosefinch.

Not much happening here but its obviously not as wet as on Exmoor. Apparently there was so much rain this week that the Exmoor pony Centre flooded and they have had to lift up all the carpets.

My sore foot has got better, luckily without the vet having to come and see me, I think it was because of the threat of vets and injections - Terry still smells of Stockholm tar though.

There is a rumor going around that my friend Terry might be going to Sussex to live with Jaffa, Juliet came and took pictures of us yesterday. The picture shows Oliver and Jaffa galloping about. Oliver was terribly ill as a foal, the vet had to come everyday for 10 days to make sure he was Ok. He is now blind in one eye but it doesn't seem to stop him galloping around or slow him down.

The girls next door, Fallon, Maisie and Ryburn spend a lot of time leaning over the gate stariing at me- why do they do that I wonder? Fallon is learning to pull a tyre; Maisie has just turned up from Wales and Ryburn is very grumpy!

My friend Terry is back out in the field with me, his foot is better, the blacksmith came and dug a hole and Juliet (she looks after me) put Stockholm tar in the hole. She made a real mess of it as Terry seems to be covered in Stockholm tar. I’ve got a sore foot now…Juliet threatened to get the cow man who was trimming the Belted Galloway’s feet to look at me, but I really couldn’t cope with being turned upside down in a revolving crush so I am waiting for the Vet to come and see me instead.

The boys at the Exmoor Pony Centre are having their summer saddle fitting today due to a lot of grass this year. They will now have two saddles; a slim fitting winter version and their fatter summer version. They all had a lovely time on Sunday at the birthday party; lots of leading rein mounted games and extensive grooming from keen admirers.

Rosefinch and Marigold went to Hexham Native Horse and Pony Show on Sunday. Marigold is only 2 months old and was so well behaved! Rosie won her class and Marigold was 2nd. There were some other Moorland Mousie friends there; Angostura, now a 4 year old Stallion who was beautifully behaved and Burdock (aka. Sophie) who is now 6. We all had a very lovely day!

Hi,

My name is Cadbury (my registered name is Fagus 4/55 though). I am a Herd 4 pony born on Dunkery and my dad is Ebony, I know who my Mum is, but nobody else seems to. I am now owned and looked after by the Moorland Mousie Trust. I went to the Exmoor Pony Centre as a weaned foal and was handled there before moving up to Northumberland in a huge green wagon.

In this blog I am going to tell you all about my friends, where they have been going, and what they have been up to, as well as what it is like to be an Exmoor living up North and being part of the MMT.

I am currently living with 5 grumpy black and white Belted Galloway cows and two other calves who are my friends. My Exmoor friend Terry who lives in the field with me has a sore foot so he is in the stable at the moment waiting for the blacksmith to come and sort him out.

Cadbury and Friends

My name is cadbury and this blog is to tell you about me and my friends you will of course get some great pictures of exmooor ponies including a picture of bogbrush who fell down a well last weekend well that is if the firemen send it to me. What can i tell you about me... I am 2 years old and was born on exmoor my mother and father are both wild and i had a very happy first summer on the moor. I then was bought by the Moorland Mousie Trust and handled very very kindly after being branded and the end result is me -a nice friendly hairy pony currently in a field with Storm she is a girl and very bossy like most girls. I should be out on an enviromental grazing scheme eating rough grassland so that wildflowers can flourish next summer but i have got a lump on my fetlock so Im here in Northumberland getting hay everyday and generally being a bit pampered . There are an awful lot of friends in the north 52 to be precise and more down on Exmoor at the exmoor pony centre but we are pretty rare really and very special as you will find out soon.
